Hotels in Cacela Velha: Where to Sleep in the Village

Onde Ficar

Are there hotels in Cacela Velha? I found none inside the village: there is A Casa de Cima, a guest house with rooms, plus hotels and houses in Vila Nova de Cacela and the nearby beaches. With dated sources.

I found no hotel inside the village of Cacela Velha. I found one guest house with rooms in the village itself, A Casa de Cima, and several hotels and houses nearby, mostly in Vila Nova de Cacela. This guide says what each source states, with the date, and what I could not confirm. I did not stay at any of these places.

Quick answer

  • In the village: A Casa de Cima describes itself on Booking as a local-lodging guest house with rooms in the village of Cacela Velha; the address given is "Cacela Velha, 8900-019 Vila Nova De Cacela" (Booking, 3 November 2026).
  • Hotels: on Booking's "Hotels near Cacela Velha" page (Booking, 3 November 2026), the nearest hotel listed is 2.7 miles (about 4.3 km) away, in Altura.
  • In Vila Nova de Cacela: Casas da Quinta de Cima, Casa do Carlos, Cacela Inn 3 and Casa de Cacela (see below).
  • Not confirmed: current prices and availability (they change by date), the number of rooms at A Casa de Cima, and whether other lodgings exist inside the village.

How to choose

This is my own suggestion, based on what the sources say:

  • Sleeping in the village itself, on foot to everything: A Casa de Cima.
  • A country estate with a pool and dinner on site, a few minutes away: Casas da Quinta de Cima.
  • An apartment or house to cook in: Casa do Carlos or Cacela Inn 3, in Vila Nova de Cacela.
  • A hotel with a pool and resort services: Altura, Praia Verde or Cabanas de Tavira.

In the village: A Casa de Cima

According to the host's description on Booking (3 November 2026), it is a local-lodging guest house with rooms, created by someone born in the village, in a house that has been in the family for several generations. The page lists rooms with private bathroom, air conditioning, TV and minibar, some with a balcony or terrace with sea or river views, free Wi-Fi, free parking and a continental breakfast. It lists five room options, including doubles with a balcony and sea view, and the languages spoken are English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Booking gives 9.1 out of 10 from 279 reviews, and 9.8 for location; value for money scores 8.4. In the surroundings section the same page puts the restaurants Casa da Igreja, Casa Velha and Casa Azul at 0 m, and Cacela railway station at 2.6 km. I did not find prices (they change by date) or the total number of rooms. See the accommodation.

Hotels: the nearest is about 4 km away

On Booking's "Hotels near Cacela Velha" page (Booking, 3 November 2026), the hotels listed start at 2.7 miles (about 4.3 km) and are in other places:

  • Altura: Hotel Azul Praia (2 stars, 6.5 out of 10) and OZADI Altura Beach Resort (9.0).
  • Praia Verde: Octant Praia Verde (9.3).
  • Cabanas de Tavira: AP Cabanas Beach & Nature, 4 stars (8.8).
  • Tavira: OZADI Tavira Hotel (9.0).
  • Castro Marim: Monte do Malhão, described as a rural tourism unit (9.4).

The list is a sample from the page and may change. For the right hotel, see the guide for each area: Altura, Cabanas de Tavira, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António.

In Vila Nova de Cacela: estates and houses

Vila Nova de Cacela is the neighbouring town, on the main road, a few kilometres from the village. The places below are there, and the distances to Cacela Velha Beach are Booking's estimates, which may vary.

  • Casas da Quinta de Cima: the Michelin Guide lists it under hotels, as former workers' cottages of a 19th-century farm estate, restored by the same family; the listing mentions 10 rooms, while the description speaks of nine suites, an outdoor pool, free parking and spa treatments on request, with no Michelin distinction on the page (Michelin Guide). Booking gives 9.6 out of 10 from 74 reviews, 1.7 km from Cacela Velha Beach and 650 m on foot from Nora station (Booking). The Michelin listing mentions renovation from 15 November 2025 to 28 February 2026, so check the current state.
  • Casa de Cacela: a rural tourism property on a six-hectare farm, at Rua da Dona Carmen, Sítio do Buraco, 8901-907 Vila Nova de Cacela, according to the Baixo Guadiana tourism site (Baixo Guadiana). It does not state the number of rooms.
  • Casa do Carlos: a two-bedroom apartment with Cacela station at 250 m and Cacela Velha Beach at 2.4 km, according to Booking.
  • Cacela Inn 3: an 18 m² holiday house for up to 2 guests, with a private terrace and a shared covered terrace, 1.2 km from Cacela station and 3.1 km from Cacela Velha Beach, according to Booking.
