Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Portugal, Cacela Velha holds centuries of history — from the prosperous Islamic Hisn Kastala to reconstruction after the 1755 Earthquake. With its Parish Church, the panoramic Fort and the traditional whitewashed Algarvian houses, it is the perfect starting point for exploring the Ria Formosa.
